BOYKIN SPANIELS ARE AN AMERICAN BREED +++++ BUY AMERICAN!!!

A Boykin Spaniel is the retriever that will not rock your boat.  An American breed,  they are one of the most versatile of all the hunting dogs in the field today.  Originally bred to hunt turkeys, they still do that in states where it is legal.    Primarily they are used to retrieve ducks or doves as well as hunting upland game birds such as grouse, pheasants or quail.  Where legal, Boykin Spaniels often hunt deer and some hunters even use them to tree and retrieve squirrels.  When the hunting is done, they become your loyal companion and little buddy for your children.

We are selling a 3 year old male with ID chip  Dark chocolate, curly coat, nice companion $300.00

All our dogs are treated like family.  When the dams are due to whelp, they are taken into our own bath room where we set up a cot and spend the night with them untill all their puppies are born on a blanket near the heater.  Several days after birth they are transferred to a comfortable pen in the adjoining mud-room where they are cuddled and inspected daily.  It is here they become accustomed to household and outside noises and activities. At this stage they also start paper training  making it easier for buyers to house train their puppies when taken home.  By four weeks of age; rain, snow or sunshine,  they are  taken outside twice daily for group play.  Given this much personal attention, they learn at an early age to be loyal companions.  Call or write now,  tell us what characteristics you prefer in a hunting or companion dog and we will  reserve a puppy based on your personal specifications.

Hawk Ridge is a former 235 acre cattle farm located in the sparsly settled, wild hills of West Virginia.  Most of the farm, as well as the surrounding area, now is hardwood forest.  Hawk Ridge dogs have strong hunting instincts, are tough yet wonderful with children and excellent companions.  They can live outside in a kennel or inside with the family.  Ours spend most of the day outside and their nights with us in the more than 100 year log barn which has been converted into our bedroom.

Boykin Spaniels weigh between 35 and 42 pounds.  Their coats are dark chocolate or liver colored ranging from slightly wavy to tightly curled.  A small white spot is allowed on the chest but solid color is prefered.   Born with blue eyes most turn brown but a few lean toward yellow.  The tail is shortened at birth to avoid damage and collection of burrs in the rough terrain where they hunt.  Boykin Spaniels have a strong desire to please which is why they are so easy to train
